AI Assistants in Education: Enhancing Communication and Student Support

Iryna T |

This morning, I woke up to the sound of a very young voice saying: “Give me a brief description of positivism in literature of the middle of the 19th century, and characterize works of Bolesław Prus.”

No need to say, on hearing this I came up to the window and saw a teen girl standing at the corner of my house, apparently waiting for someone, and asking an AI assistant something she needed for her exam. A minute later, another girl of the same age joined her, and both hurried in the direction of our local school, still sharing something on their phones.

Well, I remembered my own school years when the only place to find any information was a library with endless shelves of books and heavy encyclopedias. Isn’t it amazing, I thought. Today, information comes instantly, briefed and processed exactly to meet your request, and literally right into your pocket!

After spending three decades of my life in the world of universities, teaching and working side by side with students, I moved to the world of IT. But I still can’t help following the news and innovations happening in Academia and education. The most recent tech advances, which brought AI into classes and—most importantly—right into the ears and eyes of students, are now reshaping the entire educational industry and the learning process for every young person on a global scale. AI Assistants are becoming the new drivers of knowledge, and most people haven’t yet fully realized the profound influence they’re having on the giant shift in human intelligence that we’re about to witness in the coming years.

So, today’s topic is AI Assistants in education—and this is just the first post in a series of articles I’ll devote to the fascinating world of AI in Academia.

The New Normal: AI at Every Corner of Learning

Let’s imagine for a moment: you’re a student, anxious about tomorrow’s test, and it’s already 10 pm. The school office is closed, your teacher isn’t answering emails, and the official website looks like a maze of outdated links and dead ends. Not long ago, this would have been a nightmare scenario. Today, you simply open your phone and ask an AI Assistant, “What is the deadline for the scholarship application?”—and get a clear, up-to-date answer in seconds.

This is not some distant future; it’s happening right now, all around us. According to recent studies, over 60% of universities in North America and Europe have already implemented or are testing AI-driven chatbots or assistants on their websites. And that number is growing fast, as AI becomes the backbone of support and communication in education.

The Website Revolution: Why AI Assistants Matter

Educational websites used to be passive noticeboards—full of forms, policies, and announcements, but rarely helpful in the moment of need. Now, with AI Assistants, these websites have transformed into living, interactive portals. Imagine you’re a parent trying to understand the admissions process, or a student navigating course enrollments, or even a teacher seeking resources for a new class. An AI Assistant is there for all of you, 24/7, ready to listen, explain, and guide.

But, like any new technology, there are challenges. I’ve seen, time and again, how information on university websites can become outdated or incomplete. Old course descriptions linger like ghosts; enrollment rules change, but not every page gets updated. When an AI Assistant is left unsupervised, it may accidentally serve up yesterday’s news instead of today’s facts—leading to confusion and, sometimes, disappointment.

Learning from Mistakes: The BizDriver.ai Solution

Here’s where the story gets interesting. The tech team of BizDriver.ai saw this problem and decided to act—not by replacing humans, but by bringing them into the loop. Their human-supervised AI Assistant for education is a perfect example of how technology and people can work hand-in-hand.

Picture this: If a student asks about getting a transcript, and the AI Assistant gives outdated paper-based instructions instead of the current online portal, BizDriver.ai’s team of experts steps in. They analyze where the Assistant went wrong, collaborate with the institution to update or remove obsolete content, and even help fill in missing information—like new scholarship rules or details for international students. They continually refine the AI’s guidance, making sure it reflects the institution’s voice and latest policies.

The result? Students get accurate, current, and meaningful answers. Trust is built. Engagement increases. Students feel supported and valued—and that, in turn, lifts the entire educational community.

More Than Just Answers: The Broader Impact

As someone who has spent years watching education evolve, I can say with certainty: AI Assistants are not just changing how questions are answered—they are transforming the entire educational ecosystem.

  • For students: Information is instant, clear, and personalized. No more digging through endless links or waiting for office hours.

  • For teachers: AI handles the repetitive questions, freeing up valuable time for real teaching and mentorship.

  • For administrators: The data from AI interactions reveals which policies confuse students, what information is missing, and how services can improve.

  • For families and the wider community: Barriers are lowered. Multilingual support and accessibility features mean no one is left behind.

Perhaps most excitingly, AI Assistants encourage students with disabilities, first-generation learners, or those for whom English is not a first language to get easier access to critical information. Education becomes, in the truest sense, more open to all.

A Human Touch in a Digital World

As much as we marvel at technology, we must never forget that the best systems still need the human touch. The story of BizDriver.ai proves that when AI is guided by caring experts—who listen, analyze, and improve—the results are extraordinary. It’s not about machines taking over; it’s about amplifying what educators and administrators do best.

From my own window this morning, I saw the future in the faces of those two girls—full of curiosity, ambition, and the determination to succeed. They have at their fingertips what we could only dream of: a world of knowledge, personalized and delivered instantly. But behind every answer, there are still teachers, mentors, and, yes, even IT professionals ensuring the path is clear and the information is true.

The Future Is Already Here

Universities around the world are already celebrating the results. Georgia State University’s chatbot “Pounce” answered over 200,000 questions in its first year, reducing student “summer melt” by more than 20%. Arizona State’s AI Assistant measurably improved student satisfaction and engagement. The UK’s Open University supports more than 170,000 students globally, all thanks to round-the-clock AI guidance.

But this is only the beginning. The AI Assistants of tomorrow will not just answer questions—they’ll help students choose classes, find mentors, discover opportunities, and connect with peers. They’ll analyze trends, predict needs, and ensure that every learner gets the best possible experience.

A New Era of Learning—With You at the Center

So, as you set out on your own learning journey, remember this: AI Assistants are here to serve you, guide you, and open doors that were once locked behind library walls. But it is your curiosity, your questions, and your dreams that make all the difference.

I look forward to exploring more of this fascinating world with you. In my next posts, we’ll dive even deeper into how AI is reshaping education, empowering teachers, and building a smarter, more connected world for us all.

Stay inspired, stay curious—and never stop learning.
