Which AI Is Right for You? And What Comes Next for Your Website?

Ask six people which AI they use, and you may hear six different answers. One drafts proposals with Claude; another talks to ChatGPT; a third asks Gemini to find information buried in an email. AI is becoming an everyday utility, but choosing it still feels like shopping in a supermarket where the shelves rearrange themselves overnight.

Meet the main assistants

These are overlapping services, rather than six completely different kinds of intelligence. Their practical advantages lie in their tools and integrations.

ChatGPT: the versatile toolkit. Writing, web research, voice conversations, image creation and spreadsheet analysis sit within one service. Its appeal is breadth: a small-business owner can move from brainstorming a campaign to analyzing results without switching platforms. OpenAI Help Center

Claude: the document and coding collaborator. Anthropic’s assistant offers document analysis, collaborative writing and finished files; Claude Code works directly with software projects. It is a useful option for turning substantial source material into structured work. Claude by Anthropic

Gemini: the Google-connected assistant. Its distinctive attraction is access, with permission, to context across Google services. Finding details in Gmail or connecting information across apps can make assistance more personal. blog.google

Grok: a window into live conversation. Alongside general assistance, xAI’s service can search public X posts and the web, useful for exploring emerging discussions. Social chatter, however, still needs verification. X Help Center

Microsoft Copilot: assistance inside familiar work tools. Its Microsoft 365 integrations bring AI into Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, reducing the distance between asking for help and using the result. Microsoft Support

Perplexity: research with a visible source trail. Its search-centered experience emphasizes answers linked to web sources. That makes checking the evidence convenient, although citations do not guarantee accuracy. AI for the Curious

Features depend on subscription, country and account settings. These are practical distinctions, not permanent rankings.

Can you have “your own” AI?

Yes. Open-weight model families include Qwen, Google’s Gemma and models from Mistral. Their downloadable weights (the learned numerical parameters) allow self-hosting under the relevant license. This gives you control over deployment, rather than ownership of the underlying technology. Qwen

Small models already run on suitable laptops and phones. Larger systems need more memory, computing power and electricity. Serving many customers adds hosting costs, security, monitoring and maintenance. A downloaded model also needs tools and current business information to become a useful assistant.

“Open-weight” does not automatically mean unrestricted open source: licenses vary. Local hosting can improve data control, but privacy still depends on configuration. The obstacle is increasingly reliable operation, rather than simple access. ai.google.dev

The next two to three years

Our expectation for 2027–2029 is wider access through phones, browsers and everyday software, with free entry tiers, paid advanced capabilities and smaller models handling some tasks locally.

Assistants will increasingly help complete actions. Agent-assisted shopping already provides an early example. blog.google

For website owners, this suggests two audiences: people seeking immediate conversation and assistants gathering information for them. Imagine a visitor asking, “Which service fits my budget, and can I book Friday?” Clear prices, accurate policies and connected booking tools become essential.

A website assistant such as BizDriver Nova can provide a conversational starting point. The broader opportunity is making your business easy to understand, easy to question and easy to reach, with a human available when judgment matters.
